Q&A

Hi everyone!
I'm Kerry-Ann, I thought you might like to know a little about me so I've arranged a few questions I thought people might ask. If you want to know anything else just ask :)

Q: How old are you?
A: 22

Q:Where are you from?
A: Born in Manchester, currently living in North Wales

Q: What camera do you use?
A:
Olympus E-420 Digital SLR or Samsung D1070

Q: What courses have you studied?
A: I chose to study 3 Beauty Therapy courses, there are so many ways to go about becoming a beauty therapist now.
I have completed my Level 1 salon services, Level 2 NVQ & Diploma Beauty and my Level 3 NVQ & Diploma Beauty.
I am starting a certificate in education course in September 2013!

Q: Did You enjoy your beauty course and would you recommend it?
A: I thoroughly enjoyed my course! best thing I ever did.

Q: How did you go about getting on the beauty course?
Well, I left school after my GCSE's and went straight into college, but there are so many ways of going about getting trained. Here's a few you could think about:
  1. You could get an apprenticeship in a salon
  2. Go on short courses and gain separate parts of beauty
  3. You can do it the way I did and go to college full time. I did my qualification in 3 years (it would normally be done in two) I was lucky enough in secondary school to do a one day a week salon services course which I thought was more of an introductory and isn't needed to get onto the main beauty therapy course. Then when I left school I went onto doing my Level 2 beauty therapy which involved facials, manicures, pedicures, make-up waxing and eye treatments, this course was fantastic I loved it, no one ever mentions the theory side to a beauty course though and it is tough! If you are no good at biology(the body) you will need to study. In the meantime I got a Saturday job in a local salon whilst training (I would recommend this to anyone on a beauty course, being in a salon is completely different to college, even if you are just answering the phone to begin with). My Second year was level 3 (massage route) which involved massage, electrical treatments body and face e.g CACI, electrolysis, EMS etc. Again a lot of study needed with biology. We had lots of fun practising these treatments on each other. My Third year was Level 3 (Make-up route) and was optional because I wanted my spray tanning and acrylics I drove 31miles 3days a week to a different college (my local didn't offer this course) Not so much study needed with this course because they were more like extras such as the tanning, photographic make-up, nail extensions.

There are plenty of good colleges to study at and plenty of beauty schools. Just find the one closest to you...that's what I did!

Q: Do you experiment with your hair?
A: Well all my hair is real, I don't use any hair extensions and I only did a short course in dressing hair so I'm not that good. Like any girl I love experimenting with different hair styles and accessories so I try to vary what I do to my hair. I use a few things to style my hair such as curling tongs, hair straighteners and sponge rollers, you can search my blog for what I use.

Q: What colour is your hair?
A: Along with changing the style of my hair I also like to change the colour of it too! At the moment its a #5 or #6 coloured in a hair salon, I'm not sure what it would be in a box colour, but its a medium-dark brown

Q: What type of skin do you have?
A: Combination. My face is normal in the morning and tends to get quite oily at the end of the day

Q: Do you use a MAC foundation, if yes what shade are you?
A:  I do occasionally use MAC, I find it a little to heavy for my skin so prefer something more light weight. My skin tone is quite pale so if I do use their foundation I go for NC15 in winter and NC20 in summer
Q: Are those your real nails?
Yes, I will never put acrylics on my nails again. I have ruined my nails so many times by putting acrylic nails on them and I wont do it again. If I ever do I will most definitely tell you! But you have to promise to tell me off for doing it because I know I will regret it afterwards.

Q: What are your interests?
A: My obvious interest is beauty hence the blog, I also enjoy hair which I studied a little.
Photography is a huge interest for me, although I may not be good I still enjoy going for a walk and getting some snaps on my camera. I'd actually love to study photography but think I'll leave that for a little later on in life as my newest academic step is training to become a lecturer in beauty therapy.
I start in September and have heard it's an intense course to study; so wish me luck!
